I always get balloons for everything..even though they annoy me..but the kids when they walk in the house and see i went specifically out to get them balloons and a banner etc,,they secretly appreciate it. When my daughter was young and it was just her nd I ..on her bday..i'd pic her up from school in my bright yellow beetle with the balloons w her name on them hanging out of the sunroof. as she got older and i got rid of the car that stopped but i know she still looks for them. She will never forget that at the end of sixth grade i bought the entire class balloons. I them, individually, put their names on them and one wish. they silitaneously set them free into the sky. It was so symbolic.

i know it means another long flight but san diego is so much fun with little ones. the san diego zoo is a full
day excursion. when my son was about that age we spent the day at the zoo while my husband had work to
do. it was the best day! when he got tired we took the bus tour and he napped next to me
while we drove around and saw the animals from another perspective. the tour guides are
interesting and fun to listen to (sit on top, just make sure you bring a hat and sunscreen).
then of course there is sea world and the beach! hope it happens for the both of you. i'm a little envious just writing about it. :)

lucky you! surprise get-aways are the best! i've never stayed in palm springs but this is exactly where i'd want to stay. hope you had fun in the sun. :)

I absolutely love this post. Your photos are great The idea of the exhibit is great too. A way to show children that although we all come from different corners of the world we all like to have fun and all have more in common then we think. (That's the way I look at it .)

i dove into this NY mag article as well. as i always do. my reason has always been "ny is the one of the few cities that i'm inspired to always be creative." i grew up in ky. this has not always been the case.
