90 Days Of Summer: Rooftop Pool Party

One of the super things about moving back up north {I'm a Pennsylvania girl} after living in Florida for six years, is that I get to experience the change of seasons. The flux of weather and traditions creates crinkles in the year, a crack in monotony. A visible pause. Pumpkin patches and apple orchards in the fall. Ice skating and hot chocolate to celebrate the first snowflakes in the winter. Watching the sailboats hatch in the harbor and counting the tulips in the spring.

And now.

Summer.

After watching the first year of CJ's preschool evaporate away {sniff!} I'm grasping at every effort to stall time and make this summer with him last forever. To make these days, when the sunbeams are golden and stretch like taffy, to never find their end. So, we've made a list of things we want to tackle this summer. Me: host a rooftop oyster shucking + champagne party for all of our friends. CJ: ride a double decker bus. Mr. S: take a surfing lesson. Our 90 Days of Summer. I've decided to share our list as we check them off along the way, the tangible breadcrumbs of our memories that will one day lead us back to this moment and show we were here, we lived this summer.

The Great Summer of 2012.

First up: a rooftop pool party in the middle of a Monday afternoon.

We are super lucky that our building has a private rooftop pool {it's like finding mythical Atlantis for us city dwellers}. So yesterday CJ and I threw on our fedoras, packed up a stash of frozen grapes and splish splashed in the pool until our skin looked like a wrinkled prune. Today, my legs look a little more tan and CJ's hair looks a little more like the color of straw. A visible pause.

So.

Yes.

I love that being up north I get to experience the change of seasons. But I'm alright with this season in our lives lasting a little bit longer.

So.

Fall.

No hurry.

What would you like to do this summer? Any special plans or trips?
