A City Moment
Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 7:52AM
We have walked the Brooklyn Bridge about 2,849 times since we have moved here. Usually we picnic or grab ice cream or meet friends on the other side, but this particular trip involved a tutu, a bridge, a squirmy toddler and most importantly, an amazing friend that was able to capture it all. I'm not much for traditional family portraits. Sit. Pose. Smile. But this candid shot? Already framed on my wall!
I don't know if we will live in the city forever. I'd sure like to. But things like cost of living, costs of schooling for CJ, how long we can live in a shoebox apartment and the size of our family, are things that often create a steep rival for my undying love for this town.
But in this moment, this is our life...

What a wonderful picture! And I covet your tutu.
I'll be in New York in November for the marathon, and a field trip to the Brooklyn Bridge is on my to-do list.
Love the photo- absolutely perfect NY moment!
We haven't done the walk over yet, I think we will put it on our weekend agenda :) Thanks for the reminder and another great post!
I love this picture! My husband and I used to walk the bridge all the time but haven't done it since we had the baby. I think I'm going to put it back on my list. Now I have to find a photographer friend to come along...
And I totally hear you about trying to stay in the city as long as possible. School and space seem to be the main factors that get in everyone's way. But I would have a really hard time commuting back and forth to work in the city and barely seeing my daughter before she goes to bed.
Such trade-offs.
Hey Andrea. :)
I just recently stumbled upon your lovely little blog and I have to say I already enjoy & look forward to your posts! :)
This is definitely much better than the usual family portrait! I think you are so lucky to be able to be living in an awesome town as New York! Even if it's just for right now and you might have to move somewhere else in the future. But I am sure you will have made some/ a lot of lovely memories by then. :)
Love the picture, and your shoes!
Oh, you look so damn cute! I can't even get over the tutu (PERFECT shade of pink) and the to-die-for shoes. Gorgeous! The perfect representation of your beautiful family.
1 - I totally know how you feel about "posed" pictures...and this one is absolutely wonderful!
2 - I'm dying over your tutu. I want it! Such a cute outfit...
Thank you all for the sweet comments! I'm blushing!
P.S. Katie - you can have a tutu all your own from American Apparel! Wink, wink!
What a fantastic shot! And a great skirt. I wouldn't have the guts to wear a skirt like that here...you New Yorkers are so much braver!
Amazing, perfect photo.
Beautiful!!!
OMG!!!!! I LOVE this shot. You look like such a beautiful family and I totally agree: I'm not into the posed shots either. Candids are always much better.
PS: LOVE the tutu :)
Fabulous skirt. Fabulous shot. Very NYC...Very SATC! (Remember the opening credits of Sex And The City? :)
That picture is incredible...what a perfect moment caught in time! Walking the Brooklyn Bridge is one of my favorite NYC activities.
What a great picture! So beautiful and creative! :)
That is a great shot!! I love candid shots like that and like you said not too cool on the sit and pose ones although I do them. Nice blog and thanks for following me on twitter.
I adore this post and the photo!! Gorgeous.
Also, have to say I love the tutu too! I bought the same one for BlogHer and it is the most fun piece in my wardrobe to wear!! (looks adorable on you!)
Sad that I missed you at FNO, but we NEED to get together at some point. Just have a feeling we'll connect. YOU KNOW?!
:) xx
what a FANTASTIC memory.
(and tutu!!!!)
First thing I thought of was Carrie Bradshaw- with a baby & hubby. ;) Too cute!
