A Long Weekend In The Land of the Free

Is anyone else feeling the dire need for a three-day weekend? Yes, please! I am having pangs of envy at all of the New Yorkers escaping the city to their Hamptons homes. {Take me with you!} I haven't figured out a set 4th of July tradition just yet. So in the interim of me figuring that out, this weekend will be spent munching on blueberry snow cones and roasted veggie kebobs hot off the grill. Tomorrow me and the hubs are escaping for the Midsummer Night Swing event at Lincoln Center {salsa lessons in the sultry summer air + margaritas = fun!} and plan on spending the 4th at Water Taxi Beach on Governors Island for a Zooey Deschanel concert {isn't she just the absolute cutest?}. It will all be topped off with the traditional Macy's fireworks display from the Hudson River. Happy 4th sweet readers!
Does your family have any special traditions for this weekend? Any nifty ideas that I can make staples in my 4th of July roundup next year?

Your weekend sounds lovely. I am also behind the curve in setting 4th of July traditions, but given it is our first one I suppose we will be let off. But next year we will have to start some traditions, they will have to have their own Scottish/Irish slant though!
